STATION 3: Brain Sensing Activity
We will be trying out the brain sensing devices provided by from ThoughtWired. The Neorsky headsets we use have many apps available for download. We use the Brainwave Visualizer in our sessions.
Brain sensing Thought Wired (Notes)
Brain reading devices- contraptions have become simpler than when they first began making them.
What can you do with it?
1) Monitoring - to understandand reflect on what is happening in a person's brain (reflecting and analysing what is happening).
2) Neurofeedback - to change the behaviour by taking the monitoring in real time and presenting the results to the person who is being observed.
- Used for a variety of puposes such as changing what the brain is doing to improve focus and to help a person calm down and get ready to got to sleep.
3) Control - to give superpowers! using technology to allow a person to control things outside of them using their brainwaves/thoughts.
- the person could be controlling an app on a computer or mobile device, a robot or other kind of device. REAL WORLD examples of telekinesis andtelepathy.
Getting started
Devices such as the Neurosky Mindwave and Brainlink (headband prototypes) captures brain activity (Neurosky-single electronic device, Brainlink - multiple electrodes) and communicates it wirelessly via bluetooth to your computer/mobile device.
You can illustrate a person's mental state through a physical device.

- Mindfulness practice
- Helping people to improve their mental health and brain fitness
- Teach kids and adults how to improve their focus and distractions through the use of this technology.
- Help people with disabilities
Future
- Controlling use of robotic limbs.
- Reconstruction of visual images and sound information from brain images
